I've been gathering info on cults and I know we've had several threads about the top warning signs that JWs are a cult. Can anyone point me to those links? Or post up any new observations about it in this thread. This would be a BIG HELP!! Thanks in advance.............

Black Man's 500th post
by Black Man inok, this is my 500th post, which for me is a major accomplishment!!
i've lurked here since the beginning, posting here and there since 2001, and am very close to coming full circle on a fade that began to be engineered back around 1998. i just want to thank all of you for your comments, insights, and overall support.
each of you in your own way have aided me and given me something to make it to the next day.

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

MTS School
by Black Man inwhen will the wts admit that this arrangement is a bust - financially, emotionally, aesthetically.
mts was something that started in 1987 for those who wanted to pursue other avenues of services without having to go through bethel service.
it originally was intended to be an abbreviated gilead course with brothers receiving assignments to go into the circuit work, missionary service, special pioneer work or to serve where the need was greater (which oftentimes translated to the boonies or starkly rural areas).

Let's not even get started on the MTS/no marriage rule. For at least two years you are expected to not marry (and not date, because that with a view to marriage) because you are viewed as society property. So you've got these horny MTS brothers who are being chased by these sisters (who think they're pursuing a catch), but can not do anything with each other. Brothers that have decided to date before the two-year edict was up were thrown out of the program like fish thrown back in the water...........

How do we know that Ted Jaracz is in charge?

Jaracz is like the domineering presiding overseer who is supposed to consider the input from the rest of the body, but instead uses his influence to hold sway over the BOE. He is hands-down the senior GB member and he rules with an iron fist. MTS is most definitely his baby. And his is a prolific asshole. I got along very well with Losch when I was at the House. He had a European way of looking at things at came off as open-minded except for his views on Football and his roommates "holding hands and praying" spiel. As has been echoed here, Jack Barr was/is truly a sincere and sweet person and proves that not everyone in the cult is an SOB. I was assigned to his morning worship table for awhile, and it was refreshing to be around him.........
